Adam Shaw netted a deadly double to fire Airdrie United under-16s into the
Central Regional Cup Final for the second time in three years.
The
Diamonds earned a shot at silverware after recording a comfortable 3-1
victory over East Kilbride young guns Claremont.
On
a windy afternoon at Craigneuk, Shaw gave Airdrie a spectacular lead with
a wind-assisted shot from his own half.
The
hosts dominated but couldnt find a second goal, and Claremont
capitalised with an equaliser early in the second half.
However,
Airdrie responded in positive fashion, and when a Scott McWhinnie lob from
a Steven Kelly pass was handled on the line, they were awarded a penalty.
Shaw stepped up and confidently converted the spot-kick
The
tie was over when Airdrie added a third goal thanks to a strike from
McWhinnie.
The
Diamonds could even afford the luxury of missing a late penalty through
Shaw.
